PROJECT TITLE: Biomimicry: Natural Structures, Barnacles - Waterloo Centre, Singapore (2017)

In this project, a natural structure, barnacles, was given to explore. Through analysis, barnacles can be determined by the growth number. Hence, the structural keyword of this project is Clustering. The design concept is inspired by the growth of Barnacles. The design process started with sketches that were translated into origami models. Origami model is translated into a frame model to build up the structure of the barnacles itself. Hence, through the structure of the barnacles it able to translate into the final model.
The given site is at Waterloo Centre, Singapore. It is known as the Arts and Cultural District in Singapore. The Barnacles model is inserted into Waterloo Centre as a space of Dance performing arts and accommodation living. The building is called Spacral, Space of Cultural, derived from the programme itself, Cultural Dance Performance. Performers can stay at the accommodation living to have an intensive practice while visitors can join the programme and workshops.
